Jacques Higelin

A 40 años de mayo del 68, es hora de ir al rescate de un músico francés que fue protagonista de aquellos años, que ha sido en las décadas subsiguientes un artista importantísimo de la escena francesa, y que hasta el día de hoy sigue editando discos, sin que tengamos información sobre él ni en revistas ni en páginas de Internet en castellano: Jacques Higelin.

Nacido en 1940, a los 15 años comenzó a actuar en teatros de París, y cuando en 1965 el productor Jacques Canetti le ofreció grabar un disco con canciones de Boris Vian, empezó una carrera como músico que ya no abandonaría. El 68 fue para Higelin “una explosión de alegría, como si se abrieran por primera vez las ventanas para que entrara el aire. Luego, como era de esperar, vino la caída de la ola". Y entre fines de los 60 y la primera mitad de los 70, mientras sus ideas provocaban que estuviera en las listas negras, junto a Brigitte Fontaine y Areski Belkacem sus canciones fueron un logradísimo intento de renovar la música francesa. Se dedicó también a recorrer su país como músico y actor ambulante, yendo de pueblo en pueblo en una furgoneta con su familia. Los trabajos de experimentación musical junto a los espectáculos callejeros han sido su marca, lo que lo ha distinguido como un artista especial. Desde el 75, a la manera del mejor Bowie -como siempre lo había hecho- continuó interpretando como ninguno el signo de los tiempos y reapareció para grabar, hasta 1982, una seguidilla de lo que tal vez sean sus mejores discos. No hay más que ver las tapas y sobres internos de esos álbumes para darse cuenta de que Miguel Abuelo lo conoció: su estética de aquellos años es la de los Abuelos de la Nada (y ojo, que si hablamos de estética se trata de forma definiendo al contenido, no de un disfraz).

Si en el 66 expresaba ya en sus primeros simples las críticas al sistema de autoridad y a los valores de las generaciones previas, actualmente sigue opinando que "en la juventud es donde únicamente se encuentran actitudes de avance y movimiento, aunque en el campo musical los jóvenes se ven demasiado sometidos por las convenciones que impone la industria al rock. Pero la madurez es el aburrimiento, prefiero sentirme adolescente". Ese impulso lo sigue llevando a hacer canciones, y ya sea desde un disco homenaje a Charles Trenet o desde su reciente Amor Doloroso, continúa siendo un protagonista ineludible de la música francesa.
